Rushel Shell

Back and better than ever!  I just learned I was turned down by an online sports writing site that I did not meet their guidelines to be one of their writers.  Well, their loss!  They just don't know good writing when they see it!  So, on that note, Sports Beat is back with a fury!  First item up,
Rushel Shell, the running back with a college, at least not yet.

The saga with Shell began in the spring when he decided he wasn't sure if he wanted to part of the University of Pittsburgh football program.  Head Coach Paul Chryst told him to take some time and think it over.  Shell decided to leave the program and the university.  After deciding that he didn't want to be so far away from home, as he was at UCLA at the time, Shell asked Pitt if he could return.  He got his answer from Chryst.  The answer was no.  Chryst decided he is building a program and no one is going to be above the program.  That decision left much debate as to whether Chryst made the right decision.  It says here that he did.

What made this even more interesting is that apparently Shell and radio personality Mark Madden got into a war of words on Twitter.  Now Shell has no excuses, but he is a 19 year old young man.  As for Madden, he's a spoiled brat kid stuck in an adult's body.  He's gotten himself kicked off TWO sports shows and fired from another radio station.  He had the nerve to tell Shell that HE was going to be the only adult who would be straight with him.  Hardly!  Madden has plenty of room to grow up, so he has no business trying to counsel Shell.  Shell has enough on his plate than to take strong advice from Madden.

Having said that, Shell is looking at West Virginia and Ohio State.  A hard lesson learned, son.
You have twin daughters at home and you are trying to figure out what life is all about.  Life is about the decisions you make, good, bad, and otherwise.  Take stock in yourself and realize that this is about more than just football.  Do it for your daughters.  They are the ones who will be looking up to you.
